James writes - This is Spiderman jasper from the Oregon/Idaho
boarder. This is a hard rock to polish and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
They went for 3 weeks in 60/90 grit, (recharging every 7 days) 1 week in 120/220 grit, 1 week in 400 grit and 1 week in Titanium oxide
polish. But then disaster struck! Apparently the Titanium oxide was too abrasive and wouldn't bring the rocks to a high polish, but rather leave them with dull, pitted surfaces. I then moved them back into 400 grit for
a week and then into Tin oxide polish for a week. The tin oxide seemed to have done the trick, but due the nature of this rock, they still didn't come out as good as I had hoped. |
